Το Facebook εξαγοράζει τη Branch Media

Το Facebook συνεχίζει να εξαγοράζει μικρότερες εταιρίες για να ενισχύει τα προϊόντα και τις υπηρεσίες του. Αυτή τη φορά εξαγόρασε τη Branch Media και σύμφωνα με το The Verge, η συμφωνία εμπεριέχει ένα ποσό γύρω στα 15 εκατομμύρια δολάρια, χωρίς να υπάρχει επίσημη ανακοίνωση γι’αυτό.

Η Branch Media είναι γνωστή για τα προϊόντα Branch και Potluck. Το Branch πρόκειται για μία social πλατφόρμα στην οποία πραγματοποιούνται συζητήσεις και το Potluck για μία social εφαρμογή στην οποία διαμοιράζεται περιεχόμενο (σύνδεσμοι) και γίνεται συζήτηση γύρω από αυτό.

Με την εξαγορά της Branch Media, η ομάδα των 10 ανθρώπων θα ξεκινήσει να εργάζεται προς όφελος του Facebook και θα σχηματίσει ένα γκρουπ με την ονομασία «Conversations» (Συζητήσεις). Το γκρουπ αυτό θα αναλάβει να φέρει το Branch στα μέτρα του Facebook.

Ακολουθεί η ανακοίνωση του Josh Miller, ενός εκ των ιδρυτών της Branch Media, στο Facebook:

«After two years building Branch and Potluck, I am thrilled to announce that we will be continuing our mission at Facebook!

We will be forming Facebook’s Conversations group, based in New York City, with the goal of helping people connect with others around their interests. Their pitch to us was: «Build Branch at Facebook scale!»

Although the products we build will be reminiscent of Branch and Potluck, those services will live on outside of Facebook. A more thoughtful note and details to come soon but I am writing this haphazardly from a mountain in Japan (I was tipped that the story was going to leak while on vacation).

In the meantime, a huge «thank you» to our investors. Especially, Jason Goldman, Evan Williams, Biz Stone, Ryan Freitas, John Borthwick, and Jonah Peretti, who all spent an extraordinary amount of time with us.
